Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) is a 1,057-bed tertiary care academic hospital with approximately 76,000 inpatient admissions annually, serving the Boston area and a hub for medical research. The Emergency Department (ED) volume is approximately 110,000 visits annually and there are over 100 certified adult intensive care unit (ICU) beds with over 8,000 adult ICU admissions annually. MGH has a long history of ED/ICU collaboration in clinical trials enrollment and critical care research.
